Norton Public Schools receives KyleCares grant

Norton Public Schools has been awarded a $3,400 grant from KyleCares, The Kyle Johnson Foundation, for the development of an Active Minds chapter at Norton High School (NHS).

Active Minds chapters are student-led groups in high schools and colleges/universities that meet to discuss the needs of their communities regarding mental health. They aim to create cultures that are more supportive of mental health by  reviewing and changing policies, promoting existing services, creating awareness and hosting community-building events, and more. NHS School Psychologist, Annie Dywer, will be the chapter advisor.

This grant was made possible due to a donation by the family of Joe Dery. Joe Dery was a former teacher at NHS for 34 years between 1972 and 2006, who recently passed away. His wife Roxanne and family graciously selected KyleCares as a charity for friends and loved ones to donate to in lieu of sending the family flowers. KyleCares donated the $3,400 for the Active Minds chapter development.
