On Wednesday, March 4, the Norton School Committee approved the School Choice Program for the 2020-2021 academic year.
According to the MA School Choice Law, "The school choice program allows parents to send their children to schools in communities other than the city or town in which they reside. Tuition is paid by the sending district to the receiving district. Districts may elect not to enroll school choice students if no space is available."
Applications will be available on the district website on March 9 and will be accepted starting March 16. No applications will be accepted or processed prior to March 16. Admission for students entering Grades K-5 will be determined based on a lottery to be held to fill the available five (5) seats in each grade. Admission for students entering Grades 6-10 will be accepted until September 1, 2020.
Transportation to/from school is the responsibility of the parent. School bus transportation is not an available option with the program.
All applications will be considered complete once an interview is scheduled with the Superintendent's Office. The application and more information can be found on the district website at: https://www.norton.k12.ma.us/families/school-choice.
