At the K-5 level, students engage in a personalized, student-centered environment where they prepare for future academic rigors. At NMS and NHS we offer two foreign language programs and students have the ability to obtain global studies certificates. NHS students have the option of 16 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and dual enrollment at Harvard University, Bridgewater State University, BCC, MCC, Stonehill College, or Wheaton College, to earn college credits before graduation.
Norton Public Schools is a Google School District and thus utilizes all of the GSuite for Education apps. All students in grades 3-11 have access to 1:1 technology through district provided Chromebooks. Younger students have access to rotating carts of devices. Throughout the District there are also Promethean Interactive Displays which allow for more student interaction and teaching flexibility. Students create, communicate and collaborate through the use of these technology tools to support their learning.
All of our students have the ability to express their creative sides through classes in Art, Music, Chorus, and Band. Both Middle and High School students are able to participate in an after school drama program with a production held each year. High School students may enroll in a variety of visual and performing arts courses including: Percussion, Guitar, Recording Arts, 3-D Design, and Sculpture. They may also choose to participate in after school clubs such as: A Cappella, Pep Band, and Jazz Band.
At Norton Middle School, our students have the chance to participate in Cross Country, Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Softball, and Co-ed Wrestling. At Norton High School, our athletic teams are part of the highly competitive Tri-Valley League. A number of NHS graduates go on to participate at Division I, II, and III colleges and universities.
Our College, Career, and Technical Education (CCTE) program at NHS includes courses in Marketing Technology, Small Business Ownership, and Business and Engineering Technology. Students who complete these courses can obtain certifications in MO, OSHA, and Financial Literacy. The NHS Guidance and Student Support Center provides workshops for families on preparing for college and our Naviance software allows students to keep track of their college planning and explore career interests.
Community is an important aspect of the Norton Public Schools experience. Our community partnerships include: the Attleboro Area School to Career Partnership, Norton Media Center, Norton Embracing Educational Development (N.E.E.D.), Wheaton College, the Lancers United for Community Knowledge (L.U.C.K.), and the Norton Police and Fire Departments. Through these partnerships our students have opportunities for internships and educational programming such as Project Alert and Math Madness.
