Dear NPS Families and Community Members:
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.
We are undertaking the implementation of our new strategic plan, Vision 2022. Our goals for this school year are grounded in the work that the Vision 2022 Committee has prioritized. This includes our main initiative of teaching the WHOLE CHILD. For far too long the Commonwealth and school districts have dealt with constant testing and, although important, at what cost? I would articulate that neither the workforce nor college and universities are even looking at student state assessment results.
We are not against assessing students in NPS, but we must balance our teaching approach around college, career, and life skills readiness. Within the Vision 2022 we have also provided the community with the six competencies of a Portrait of a Graduate. This allows for us to prioritize the teaching of the WHOLE CHILD. Much more will be shared on both the Vision 2022 and the Portrait of a Graduate during the school year.
Our ability to provide an excellent education is grounded in a Community-School Compact. This means that we must have parental/guardian and community involvement at all levels of education.
As always, please utilize our website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for information and Let's Talk to communicate your thoughts.
