Dear Families,
As we approach the much-awaited February vacation, I wanted to take a moment to extend warm wishes to you and your loved ones. This break presents a wonderful opportunity for relaxation, rejuvenation, and quality time spent together. Amidst our busy schedules and commitments, it's essential to prioritize moments of rest and connection. February vacation offers the perfect chance to step back from the hustle and bustle of daily life and indulge in activities that bring joy and fulfillment to our lives.
Whether you're planning a getaway, embarking on a new adventure, or simply enjoying some downtime at home, I encourage you to embrace this vacation wholeheartedly. Take the time to engage in activities that nourish your soul, foster meaningful connections with your family and friends, and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
As always, I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing support and partnership in the education of our students. Your commitment to their growth and well-being is truly commendable, and I am continually inspired by the strength of our school community. DESE Report Cards
Earlier this month, our school and district report cards were shared with families. Every year, each public school and school district in Massachusetts receives a report card which is designed to show families how our school is doing in different areas such as student achievement, teacher qualifications, student learning opportunities, and more. Heroes Among Us!
On Wednesday, February 7th, I had the pleasure of attending Special Olympics Night at TD Garden during the Boston Celtics game. The NHS Unified Basketball team was selected to scrimmage at halftime, and our team was given VIP treatment, entering through the players’ lot, sitting courtside during warmups, and participating in a meet and greet with Derrick White. The crowd cheered the eleven players representing NHS with each taking multiple shots and nine of them scoring, including some NBA 3 pointers!
Mrs. Nicole Nunes, Norton High School Wellness Teacher and Academic Coordinator, was honored as a recipient of the Heroes Among Us Award. Established as an initiative of the Boston Celtics in 1997, Heroes Among Us honors individuals who have made an overwhelming impact on the lives of others. The award is presented to an individual or individuals who, through their unique commitment and humanitarian spirit, have made exceptional and lasting contributions to our community. Mrs. Nunes' unwavering dedication played a pivotal role in setting up Unified Sports teams and incorporating inclusive physical education courses at Norton High School. Guided by her leadership, the High School has become an example of excellence in unified athletic programs across Massachusetts, garnering multiple accolades for their remarkable achievements. This includes Special Olympics North America National Banner recognition for successfully achieving national standards of excellence in the areas of inclusion, advocacy, and respect.
Congratulations to Nicole on this deserving honor! We are grateful for her leadership and dedication and for the climate of inclusivity fostered through these programs.

Text-to-911
Thank you to our SROs who have shared the following reminders about reaching 911 emergency call takers from a mobile device. Texting should only be used during an emergency when you are unable to make a voice call to 911. Making a voice call is the most efficient way to get access to emergency services.

How Do I Reach Text-to-911? When using a texting app on a device, type the numbers “911” into the “To” or “Recipient” field.
What Information Should I Give Text-to-911? You should make every effort to text the following: location including the address/location and town name; what is happening (nature of the incident); any additional details about the location you can provide such as landmarks, cross streets, nearby business names, apartment number, floor, room or suite numbers, or any details that may be helpful in locating you.

Silent Call Procedure: Once you've dialed 911 and an operator has answered, if you are unable to speak for any reason, you can press:
- 1 if you need police
- 2 if you need fire services
- 3 if you need an ambulance
- If you're asked a question during the call, you can press:
- 4 to respond yes
- 5 to respond no
